Lower Island Cove is a outport community located on Route 70. It is known as having some of the most beautiful coastal scenery found on the Bay de Verde peninsula.

• Most residents are employed by the fishery, working in fish processing plants in surrounding communities. Others commute to nearby communities for employment.

General Services:

• The community of Lower Island Cove is a Local Service District where a committee is in charge of community services. This committee handles the collection of fees for garbage.

• Weekly garbage collection is offered to the members of the community for a fee of $6 per month 
• Fire Protection Services - Old Perlican Volunteer Fire Department
