My wife and I plan on a two week trip around the Avalon Peninsula in 2005 and want to visit Old Perlican and Bay de Verde where my mothers people (Becketts and Goobys) first settled.
Are there accomodations in either community, and, would late May or September be good times to visit? We are also keenly interested in wildlife and would like to take a boat trip off Baccalieu Island.
My parents were both Canadians but emigrated to the U.S. after WWI where my dad was in the University Battlion with the Expeditionary Force at Vimy Ridge and the Somme. Our home is in Portland, Oregon. Thanks for any assistance

I really enjoyed this site as it gave me a better outlook on the town I grew up in.I have been away for a # of years so coming to this site was joyful reminder of all I left behind. But still carry my young years close to my heart. A big thank-you to all who have made this site possible. My mom & dads names are Ebenezer & Rosie Sheppard.
